Class Enrollment

Levels

Levels are grouped by ability, not strictly by age. A dancer's level is based on technical readiness, not age or years of dancing.

  • Pre-Dance and Level 1 are introductory classes for our youngest dancers. These are shorter classes built around foundational movement, coordination, musicality, and a first real taste of what dance class feels like.

  • Level 2 and Level 3 is where dancers begin building serious technique. Classes are longer. Dance vocabulary expands. Dancers start working toward genuine body control and clean execution.

  • Level 4 is upper-level training. These classes carry the highest expectations for technique, artistry, and commitment. Dancers in these classes work hard to prepare for Company, dance team, or collegiate auditions.

Class Placement

Embody staff decides all dancer placement levels.

  • New dancers are placed based on their age, prior training, and a first look in class.

    • If a dancer turns out to be a better fit somewhere else after a few weeks, we will move them; this is normal and always a conversation, never a surprise.

    • If a dancer improves within the year and is ready for a higher level, Ms. JacLyn will contact the family about transitioning the dancer to classes in a higher level. This transition can happen at any point before Showcase choreography begins.

  • Returning dancers are placed based on the previous year's progress. Progress reports are given to students in Spring.

Moving to a higher level is earned, not automatic, and it is not on a fixed timeline. Dancers develop at different rates, and holding a dancer at a level for another year is often the single best thing we can do for their long-term training. Placement decisions are made in the dancer's interest, always.

Number of classes

If you are not sure where to start, ask. We would rather help you build the right schedule with individualized attention than guess. Here are a few guidelines:

  • Dancers training in multiple disciplines tend to improve quicker.

  • Dancers who love dance and want to improve should be in ballet class as a technical foundation plus at least one other style.

  • Dancers taking jazz or contemporary without ballet training will hit a ceiling of ability.

  • Dancers with Embody Dance Company, dance team, or collegiate goals need multiple ballet classes a week plus supporting technique.

Registration

  • Registration opens August 1st and remains open throughout the school year.

  • Complete your registration through the Jackrabbit Parent Portal.

    • Provide all contact information.

    • Select your dancer's classes.

    • List any important medical information.

    • Agree to all required forms.

  • Classes are filled in the order registrations are received.

  • Dancers may join a class mid-year provided these conditions are met.

    • Space must be available in the appropriate class.

    • The class has not progressed too far ahead.

    • Participation in the Showcase depends on the date.

    • Tuition for a mid-year enrollment is prorated from the dancer's first class.

Adding, Changing, or Dropping a Class

Requests to add, change, or drop a class must be submitted in writing to BOTH:

Verbal notice to Ms JacLyn does not stop billing. Please put it in writing.

Permanent Class Cancellations

Classes require a minimum number of dancers to run. If a class does not meet its minimum, we will contact affected families before the year begins and help move each dancer into the best alternative.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition is calculated per class hour and the number of classes during the school year. This total is divided into 10 monthly payments beginning in August and ending in May. Tuition for mid-year enrollment is prorated from the dancer's first class and remaining billing cycles.

Tuition Cap

  • Tuition is capped at 9.5 hours of class per week per dancer, for a maximum monthly tuition of $525 per dancer.

  • Once a dancer reaches 9.5+ hours of class per week, their monthly tuition is a flat $525 rather than the sum of individual class calculations.

Family Discount

Families with multiple dancers enrolled receive a 20% discount on tuition for each additional sibling, applied to the dancer(s) with the lower total tuition.

Enrolling After The Year Begins

Dancers may join mid-year if there is space in the appropriate class and the class has not moved too far ahead. Showcase participation will depend on how late dancers join classes. Tuition for a mid-year enrollment is prorated from the dancer's first class.

“My daughter started as a mini with Embody at age 8. She had zero experience with competitive dance, but JacLyn and the other instructors did an incredible job preparing her for the conventions and competitions. My daughter fell in love with the entire experience. The first words she said after coming off stage at her first comp was “I am so doing Embody again next year!” This past season, at age 10, she successfully competed her first trio, and also won a Standout Dancer scholarship at a prestigious convention. I strongly believe this was the result of a combination of the high caliber training and encouragement she received from Embody. Embody is truly a family - one we are so proud to be a part of! I’m very grateful my daughter has had and continues to have such a wonderful experience.”
